On Saturday, June 7th, Supportive Living Services proudly participated in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. What a meaningful day it was!

We were joined by dedicated volunteers and passionate supporters who came out to walk alongside us and show their commitment to our mission: We believe every person should live the best life possible. Their presence and energy reminded us of the strength in community and the power of shared purpose.

The walk was more than just a fundraiser — it was a celebration of inclusion, health, and the ongoing effort to ensure individuals with disabilities have the support and resources they need to thrive.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Supportive Living Services proudly participated in the 24th Annual Walk for Autism hosted by the Autism Society NWPA at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA. This flagship event was an incredible celebration of community, support, and shared commitment to creating a more inclusive world for individuals on the Autism spectrum.

Despite the chill in the morning air, the high winds, and the misty fog, the energy at the Speedway was felt. Families, friends, local organizations, and community supporters gathered in a powerful show of unity and purpose. The walk officially kicked off at 11:00 AM following heartfelt pre-walk announcements, and our team was thrilled to be part of this vibrant and inspiring day.

The event featured much more than just the walk. Attendees enjoyed a variety of engaging activities, including the Kidz Exploration Station, team photo opportunities, and interactive selfie stations. Local food trucks kept everyone fueled and happy, while the deluxe and themed basket auctions brought out some fun competition, all in the name of supporting vital Autism programs in our community.

As a proud participant, Supportive Living Services joined in to show our continued support for individuals with Autism and their families. We believe in the mission of the Autism Society NWPA, and we’re honored to be part of this fundraising effort where 100% of proceeds stay local, directly funding programs like:

• Family sensory and social outings

• Therapeutic support across the lifespan

• Parent education and support activities

The walk wasn’t just about raising money—it was about making connections, sharing stories, and advocating for acceptance. For us, it was also a moment to reflect on how we can keep pushing forward to build a more inclusive and supportive future for the people we serve every day.

Whether you registered, donated, or simply came out to cheer, thank you for being part of this meaningful day. We look forward to walking again next year, and until then, we’ll continue doing our part to support, empower, and advocate for the Autism community.

Supportive Living Services (SLS), is excited to announce the official launch of its new Lifesharing service. This program, which began in December 2024, is designed to help adults with disabilities live the best life possible in a warm, family-centered environment.

At the heart of Lifesharing is the idea that people with disabilities can thrive when they have the right kind of support in the right kind of setting. In this model, individuals are matched with trained, compassionate providers who welcome them into their homes. Together, they share daily life, from personal care to social activities, helping build a sense of community and belonging. Most importantly, Lifesharing allows individuals to maintain a sense of independence while being supported in ways that are both meaningful and practical.

Chris Cherry, Executive Director of Supportive Living Services, shared his enthusiasm about the new offering: “We are thrilled to add Lifesharing as one of our service offerings. Lifesharing allows for a level of independence and meaningful support that simply isn’t found in other residential service programs. It’s a truly personalized approach to care that puts the individual at the center of everything we do.”

The Lifesharing program is flexible and person-centered, designed to meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual. Trained providers assist with daily living tasks, personal care, and social engagement, helping individuals set and achieve their goals. The program is also built to promote integration into the community, allowing individuals to become active participants in family life and the surrounding neighborhood.

Supportive Living Services is thrilled to announce our participation in Erie Gives, a community-wide event dedicated to supporting local nonprofits. On August 13th, from midnight to midnight, we invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of individuals we serve.

Every donation received during Erie Gives will directly contribute to enhancing the lives of our community members. Your generosity will fund meaningful opportunities, facilitate renovations in our group homes, and support the overall operations of our agency. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

Your Donation at Work:

• $25: Provides art supplies for therapeutic art sessions, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
• $50: Helps cover the cost of groceries for a week, ensuring nutritious meals for our individuals.
• $75: Helps purchase adaptive equipment, improving accessibility and independence.
• $100: Supports ongoing maintenance and improvements in our group homes, creating a safe and comfortable living environment.

For the months of July and August, SLS will be attending a few different events throughout Erie, PA.

SLS will be in attendance for the Grady's Decision Carnival on Saturday, July 20th, located in the Greene Township Building at 9333 Tate Road, Erie, PA. We will have some fun things for the kids so please stop by and see us at our table! We're excited to see everybody! Some quick walk information is provided below:

-Registration begins at 9:30 AM
-Walk begins at 10:30 AM 

*Light refreshments will be included

SLS will also be attending Erie's famous 8 Great Tuesdays event on August 6th and August 27th from 6:30 - 9:30. 8 Great Tuesdays concerts are located at the Highmark Amphitheatre at Liberty Park. We will be passing out some fun items so please feel free to stop by our table and say, "hi!"

Supportive Living Services attended the Highmark Walk at Penn State Behrend on Saturday, June 1st. It was an inspiring event with a great turnout of community members supporting local nonprofits. SLS would like to take some time to sincerely thank the local organizations who donated to help support our Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community fundraising goal.

On Saturday, April 27th, SLS attended the 23rd annual Autism Walk put on by the Autism Society of NWPA. 

Despite the cold temps and heavy rain, there were hundreds of people who showed up to show their support for the Autism Society. SLS had many visitors at our booth as we passed out "SLS" drawstring bags, our Autism Program brochures, and fun squishy toys for kids to enjoy at home. 

SLS launched an Autism Support Program for Adults in early 2023 to address the lack of support and services for neurodivergent adults over the age of 18 with an autism diagnosis but without an intellectual disability. 

The Autism Support Program at SLS provides uniquely designed services and support to individuals in their own home or community setting. These services are intended to increase an individual’s independence and achieve specific dreams and goals based on an individual service plan developed by the individual and team. In keeping with our mission statement, we see that a great many individuals have the capacity to succeed in the community but might need additional support to get started.

If you would like to support our cause, we accept cash or check donations as well as donating directly on our website. Highmark underwrites the cost of this event, so, 100% of the donations that SLS receives from this event goes to our organization!

Supportive Living Services (SLS), will be hosting a Bingo Night fundraiser at the JPT Foundation on Friday, August 25th, 2023. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and Bingo will start at 7:00 pm. 

Our professional Bingo caller will guide you through multiple rounds of the classic game with plenty of opportunities to win cash prizes! SLS will have a multitude of games for everyone to enjoy on top of Bingo itself! There will be a themed basket raffle, designer purse raffle, 50/50 raffle and much more! Individual tickets for Bingo will be $30. 

You may BYOB if you are 21+. You may also bring your own snacks. There will be pizza and subs available at Pasalinqua's Pizza next door to order for dinner as well.

The funds that SLS raises through this event will directly support our company's mission, which is that we believe every person should live the best life possible. For us, we make that our mission for all individuals who utilize our services. Whether that be through our brand new Autism Program, Bridge Program, or our residential services, these funds will directly support our individuals here at SLS.

Erie raised $40,838.35 for this year's Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, in which SLS attended! 

In 2023, in the Erie Region, there were approximately 200 walkers and there were 15 human and health-service organizations fundraising. SLS was thrilled to be a part of this awesome cause. It was a fun-filled day of meeting new faces, petting endless amounts of therapy dogs, and handing out free t-shirts to anyone who gave our putt-putt game a shot! SLS also gave away a free basket full of Erie-themed goodies. These goodies included things such as 4 Erie Seawolves tickets, $50 gift certificate to Sara's, Romolos chocolates, Gordons Butcher & Market BBQ sauces, Locally made Erie themed drink glasses, and some various local Erie candies. 

SLS was fortunate to raise over $2,000 for our organization! These donations directly help support our company mission, which is that we believe every person should live the best life possible. Every single dollar helps us provide more support for our individuals in order for them to achieve their dreams and goals! Over 2,000 people attended this year’s Autism Walk on April 29th at the Lake Erie Speedway.

Supportive Living Services (SLS) participated in this event for the first time to spread awareness of our brand new Autism Program we offer. Despite the cold and rainy weather, SLS had an amazing turnout of volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to help make this event a success. There were so many enthusiastic walkers and participants who attended this event and got to see a glimpse into what SLS is all about when stopping at our booth. 

Our brand new Autism Program at SLS provides uniquely designed services and support to individuals in their own home or community setting. These services are intended to increase an individual's independence and achieve specific dreams and goals based on an individual service plan developed by the individual and team. This is one of the first programs specifically designed to support non-ID Autistic adults.

SLS currently serves over 100 individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism.
